You never know who you’re going to mingle with when you’re at a Twitter Party. While celebrating the January box of goodies I ordered from Love with Food, I learned that Go Organic has an even wider line of gluten-free hard candies than the Apple and Cherry that I’ve previously tried. The company also sells a handful of ginger products, and that is something my Dad likes. We are constantly buying ginger candies. So, I was thrilled when Go Organic offered to send a few samples for my Dad and I to try out.
The three flavors that I received were:
Ginger
(50 calories for four pieces)
Made with organic evaporated cane juice, organic brown rice syrup and natural ginger oil, this candy has a smooth ginger flavor – almost reminds me of sweetened ginger tea. The candy provides an ideal balance between the strong, spicy taste of gnger and something sweet. My father and I both enjoyed the candy.
Honey
(60 calories for four pieces)
Out of all the Go Organic candies I’ve sampled, honey is my favorite. It’s not overly sweet, but is incredibly satisfying. This candy is made with organic evaporated cane juice, organic brown rice syrup, and organic honey. I also bet this candy tastes amazing when you have a sore throat.
Iced Mint Mango
(60 calories for four pieces)
Made with organic evaporated cane juice, organic brown rice syrup, natural mint flavor and natural mango flavor, I think this particular flavor is ‘exotic’ – it’s not something that you find with other candies. The candy is best described as having a “fruity, sweet mint flavor.”
Overall, I really like Go Organic hard candies because they are big on the flavor, and deliver in the sweetness department, but not so much that you feel your teeth rotting. I like their slightly smaller size (when compared to other sweets), and the fact that they are made with organic and natural ingredients.
Go Organic is produced by a company named Hillside Candy, which also happens to uphold a commitment to recycling and using recyclable materials whenever possible. If you are cutting sugar from your diet (or you’re a diabetic), then you may already be familiar with their GoLightly line of sugar free candies, cough drops and chewy treats. Another plus is that all of their treats are made in the USA.
