I’d like to give a special thanks to Jamie Zewe, author of Cake Mom, who responded to one of my comments on her post. She sent me samples of Pyure to try out! I was curious about the organic stevia sweetener made with organic agave insulin, organic Reb A (stevia extract), and natural flavor. I’m constantly in search of healthier diet alternatives, and use sugar-substitutes often to sweeten my drinks. I’ve bought quite a few different brands of both liquid and powdered options, and have come across a lot of misses.

PyureSampleA finger-dip test of Pyure sweetener reveals a nice taste without the chemical-like aftertaste that I try so hard to avoid. In unflavored coffee with half & half, I used one packet of Pyure, and the initial impression was positive. One packet of Pyure equals two teaspoons of sugar. By the last sip of coffee, I was hit with a blast of sweetness that to me, was not too pleasant…so I imagine a little bit of the sweetener naturally settles to the bottom. I then added two packets of Pyure to a tumbler fill of unsweetened lemonade, and enjoyed a cool, refreshing drink.

I would use Pyure again because it lacks a chemical/bitter aftertaste…but it won’t replace Truvia as my number-one healthy sweetener of choice.

I’m glad that I got a chance to try this brand (thanks Jamie!).
